Temilade Openiyi, a Grammy-winning Nigerian musician, songwriter, and producer, has joined San Diego FC’s ownership group as their newest member.
The team is scheduled to make its Major League Soccer debut in 2025. The singer, who goes by Tems professionally, joins the expanding team as a club partner through her business, The Leading Vibe, contributing her enthusiasm for community empowerment and worldwide influence.
The 29-year-old joins former Navy Seal Jocko Willink, actor and producer Issa Rae, football player Juan Mata, MLB All-Star Manny Machado, and San Diego’s ownership group as the fifth well-known figure. Tems was welcomed to the San Diego FC team by CEO Tom Penn.

Tems revealed that her decision to join the club’s ownership group was because she wants to build something special in San Diego, a ‘city that thrives on diversity and innovation’.

The newly formed MLS team is currently on its preseason tour across the nation in preparation for their 2025 season debut in the American Premier League. Before facing the LA Galaxy in their 2025 season opener on February 23, the expansion team will play warm-up games against the Portland Timbers, New York City FC, and the New York Red Bulls.
