Massimiliano Allegri has been reappointed as head coach of AC Milan.
From June 2010 to January 2014, the 57-year-old Italian served as the team’s former manager in Serie A.
Allegri takes over for Sergio Conceicao, who was fired on Thursday after just six months as Rossoneri manager. “Massimiliano and his staff are welcomed and wished well by the club,” a Milan statement said.
Milan will not compete in Europe the following season after finishing 2024–25 in a dismal seventh place and losing to Bologna in the Coppa Italia final.
Under Stefano Pioli, they won their final of 19 Serie A championships in 2021–2022.
Allegri won the Scudetto in his first season of charge of Milan in 2010-11 – the club’s first since 2004 – before he was sacked.
He then enjoyed a trophy-laden spell in charge of Juventus between 2014 and 2019, where he won the Serie A title in five consecutive seasons.
During that time Juve were also twice beaten in the final of the Champions League before he left by mutual consent.
After two years out of management, Allegri returned for a less successful stint with the Turin club between 2021 and 2024.
