All National Commissioners of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday had a closed-door meeting at the commission’s national headquarters in Abuja over Adamawa supplementary governorship election.
Festus Okoye, National Commissioner of INEC and Chairperson of Information and Voter Education, announced that the Commission would soon issue a statement regarding the meeting.

The meeting took place just 24 hours after the electoral umpire ordered Hudu Yunusa Ari, its Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Adamawa State, to refrain from participating in any of the electoral umpire’s duties or the state election.

At around 9am on Sunday, the REC, sparked outrage upon declaring Aisha “Binani” Dahiru of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of Saturday’s supplementary election over the incumbent, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP)
Ari was promptly summoned to Abuja by INEC, which deemed his pronouncement to be unlawful and a usurpation of the collation’s authority.
