Nigerian foremost hip-hop artists, Olamide, just revealed the news of his upcoming project, “Ikigai.” Olamide’s music has enthralled audiences for more than 10 years, cemented his status as one of the best Nigerian musicians of the modern period.
Baddo announced the news on social media on June 26, 2024. Only a few hours had passed since his unexpected appearance at Davido and Chioma’s wedding before the news.
The third track on the seven-track EP, “Uptown Disco,” includes YBNL talents Fireboy and Asake. The phrase “Ikigai” is Japanese for “a reason to live.”
Additionally, he worked on track 7, “Synchro System,” with former YBNL teammates Pheelz, Young Jonn, and Lil Kesh. Sabri also had an appearance on track 4.
The song “Hello Habibi,” which is now confirmed to be track 5 on the EP, was previewed by the artist on his Instagram story prior to the formal announcement.
This unexpected release is especially thrilling because he had hinted in 2023 on his X (formerly Twitter) account that his last album, “Unruly,” might be his last work.
His ability to consistently produce hit recordings is impressive; his most recent album had hits like “Jinja,” “New Religion,” and “Trumpet” with CKay.
The long-awaited release of “Ikigai” by Olamide’s fan base, the YBNL Mafias, is especially excited about the exciting YBNL reunions it promises. With every new album, his influence on Nigerian music only gets stronger.
