Nigerian police have taken Afrobeats superstar Naira Marley into custody to question him on the passing of another musician.

Following MohBad’s unexpected passing, his admirers expressed their profound sorrow by calling for a thorough investigation.

He had a falling out with Marley after leaving the musician’s record company, Marlian Records, and anger was aimed towards Marley.

Marley, who had earlier denied having any part in MohBad’s demise, claimed he had come back from Europe to help with the inquiry.

“It’s important I do my part for Imole,” Marley said, referring to another name by which MohBad was known.

“I’ll be meeting with the police with hopes for the truth to be uncovered and for justice to prevail,” he added on X on Tuesday.

The cause of MohBad’s death, who was 27 years old, is unknown. He passed away last month at a hospital in Lagos, Nigeria.

Sam Larry, a music promoter, was reportedly brought into prison by police last week and was supporting their investigations. No more information was provided.

Concerns were raised by his admirers when MohBad, whose actual name was Ilerioluwa Aloba, was hastily buried by his family one day after he passed away.
